Ecological Restoration, Inc. was retained to install engineered rock structures. We constructed rock large engineered riffles, many bendway weirs, stacked stone bank protection, keyways and other rock structures.
Another urban stream with extreme mood swings. This stream can go from a trickle to 20 feet in depth in minutes. Another contractor had created various large rock structures using boulders at a cost of millions of dollars. Soon after construction, over 40 of the 50 structures failed. Ecological Restoration, Inc. was retained to repair the structures. We completed the job with minimal budget under the direction of Dave Derrick. It took two separate mobilizations. We constructed rock large engineered riffles, many bendway weirs, stacked stone bank protection, keyways and other rock structures under Mr. Derrick?s direction. Since then, the stream has continued to flood periodically and there have no adverse issues. We worked directly under the Nine Mile Run Watershed Association for this project. They were very pleased with the results.
